DISASTER ENCORE?

thinking out loud 2

Another disaster for the moment. The headline was clear, 78 rescued 500 still missing of the
Greek coast. The usual feelings of sorrow will be headlined in major news media and thorough
investigation will be promised. Then we will lie in wait for another to happen.
It has been revealed that more than 350 Pakistanis lost their lives in the capsized boat. And of
course Pakistani politicians will start blaming the Greek authorities of how the situation was
mishandled on the boat accident. I am not trying to exonerate the Greeks, but I want to look at it
from another perspective.

What is it about us from third world countries that make our land so unwelcoming that our
people will risk their lives than stay in their places of birth. Why are our leaders so greedy
stealing our commonwealth to detriment of the majority? Warsan Shire, a Somalian Poet once
said, “No one puts their children in a boat unless the water is safer than the land.”

According to Bob Marley in his song Natural Mystic
There’s a natural mystic blowing through the air
If you listen carefully now you will hear
This could be the first trumpet, might as well be the last
Many more will have to suffer
Many more will have to die
Don’t ask me why
Things are not the way they used to be
I won’t tell no lie.
MUST IT BE THIS WAY?
